Meet James

Golf has been a constant in my life since I was 12 years old

I have been playing golf since I was 12 years old.

Having represented Norfolk and golf and been an elite pole vaulter, I have a lot of experience performing under pressure which I bring to my coaching.
I began my coaching while I was still in the fire service, I was fortunate enough to train under David Leadbetter and am a GLE Advanced Certified L3 Coach,

Everything related to the Leadbetter brand encapsulates attention to detail, allowing me to be associated with excellence and benefits you by;

  • Simplifying the coaching process using technology to validate the improvements we are making
  • Understanding that we are all unique and building a bespoke personalised coaching journey for you.
  • Continuous development for my students through the continuous professional development afforded to me, enhancing your golf.

Alongside my in person coaching I coach on Skillest which is incredible. If you have never tried online coaching before I would really recommend it. You get instant access to me as a coach and I find it really helps me build a much more connected holistic relationship with my students and helps me support you way better on our journey. My background

I want to take you on a journey here is my route to the world of Professional golf

Everyone of us has a unique route to success and enjoyment from the game we love. Here is mine, I was a slow burner, proof that its never too late. You will also see the thread that runs through mine is fun. Golf should be fun however good you are.

1990
Joined Eaton golf club as a junior. I spent countless hours having fun with my mates experimenting with different shots and building skill. My first handicap was 28
1998
My first county start, during this time my handicap had slowly come down and I was playing off 1 when I made my way into the county set up. Again, at this time it was all about playing competitive golf with my mates and having fun
2012
Took a hiatus from the game, I had lost the love and the drive for it and more importantly it had stopped being fun. I would turn up play in tournaments and just have no fun doing it. I was working too hard and couldn’t find the time in coaches diaries to have lessons and improve, had online coaching been a thing in those days I would definitely have used that. So, I stopped and took up triathlon
2018
Made my return to golf, I was disappointed to be given a new handicap and was determined to get it down. Found a new enthusiasm and love for the game and I regretted ever leaving. It made me realise that I should have explored options to stay in the game and have learnt now what I needed to do to keep my enthusiasm and passion. Slowly worked on my game and gradually, the old magic returned. Over the next few years, I got back low again
2021
Made my first start on the Clutch Pro Tour as an amateur and it was during this time that I knew I had to have a future career in golf. I began my coaching courses and during this time started to work with golfers to help them improve
2022
I turned pro off plus 2 and continued to watch my clients grow and improve their game. I get as much pleasure from working with people and watching them improve as I do from improving myself. This is my love, my passion and I have finally found my place in the world
