He is VERY patient and professional and understands what I want to get out of our sessions. His knowledge is ridiculous and explains what we are doing in a way that makes to me. A few (major) tweaks here and there on my swing have made a massive difference. I love my lessons and will be continuing with them. Five stars, would recommend. Bravo!Posted on Ben Moore2025-09-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had my first lesson with James yesterday and honestly if I could rate higher than 5 stars then I would. James was very patient and so helpful! He not only completely fixed my swing within an hour but he done it in a way that was not overwhelming or confusing to me, instead he helped me see how doing certain things would affect my shot in different ways so I understood why I was changing parts of my swing and not just telling me to change them. On top of being great with the practical and theory parts he was also very kind and easy to talk to which means a lot to someone that is not very outgoing like myself.Posted on Jack Friday2024-12-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had my first lesson with James, worked on fixing my slice when hitting driver, with my swing path and how I should be swinging my driver, after 45 mins and playing a couple of times around the course my swing has never felt better. Gone from slicing it 100 yards right to being almost dead straight and where I want the ball to go, massive thankyou to James would fully reckomend a visit to him if you need to learn to improve your game!Posted on James Softley2024-10-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Couldn’t recommend James more, fantastic attention to detail. Very patient, gives clear coaching and very adaptive to skill level. James employed lots of different techniques to help with swing. Very affordable and a great guy. Recommend on person or online!!Posted on Paul Webstermjkgm k2023-12-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had my first ever lesson with James, James with very good ,picked up straight away where I was making the mistakes very helpful and putting it right, looking forward to next lesson, great valuePosted on Mark Mann2023-12-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I always think a golf coach who doesn't put too many thoughts in your head and make you change too much is a great coach. You might say well it depends on how much you've got to change but for me James has this ability to see the small detail that makes such a big difference when someone points it out to you. The video analysis and then feedback he gives you clearly show what you need to work on. I'd have no hesitation in recommending James. For info I'm a mid to high handicapper who tends to push/slice the ball right with no idea why. With a few simple changes to set up and how I took the club back I ended up being able to hit a draw which for me was an impossible feat. Don't get me wrong I'm never going to be a tour pro and don't expect to be but the lessons have given me much more confidence and understanding of my game.Posted on Paul Lucas2023-12-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Only had a couple of lessons so far, but aim to have more lessons with James around early Spring and hopefully a video analysis of my swing.Posted on S Burly2023-12-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. First lesson with James was brilliant. Really nice guy. Very knowledgeable without over complicating things. Gave me some really good advice which clearly improved my ball striking within a short space of time. I went away with a clear idea of what I needed to do and I am definitely going to return for more coaching to hopefully continuously improve. James also does online additional coaching so he can keep in contact with you to see how you are progressing. Very handy particularly if you live far away. Thanks James👍🏻⛳️Posted on Adam Noakes2023-10-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a couple of lessons with James, really nice guy, listens to you and works with you doesn’t try and enforce a single style of coaching which I have found to be quite hard to find. Highly RecommendPosted on Joe Macro Golf2023-06-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. James is a fantastic coach and has helped me a lot with my swing and course management. He has provided me with both in person and online lessons and high recommend him to many of my clients.

Online coaching is more versatile than in-person lessons. You will be asked to film a down the line swing and a face on swing then you upload them to Skillest and within 48 hours you will get the bespoke analysis back from me. You will also get drills specific to the areas we want to work on. The lessons and drills stay permanently in your app so you can always reference back to them.
Online coaching is versatile for the client, you can film your swing at a time and place that is convenient for you, no longer are you at the behest of the coach’s gaps in diary. Your lessons are saved on your app so you can access your learning whenever you want, ensuring it gets embedded. You get to work at your own pace which can make the learning much quicker. Online coaching can also be more personal as you get direct access to your coach with direct messaging through the app, you get personalised drills and training plans all saved on the app for access whenever you need it.
The modern way is using technology and online services to deliver coaching in a way that is far more versatile for the client and no longer reliant on a coaches diary. The client can access the library of lessons whenever they want on the go to ensure the learning is even more embedded.
All my clients get a free no obligation zoom call where we can discuss your goals, and areas of your game that you would like to improve.
All you need to get started is a smart phone with a camera that can take video and the Skillest app. https://skillest.com
I also recommend the Upgame app so we can track your stats and build a plan based around your needs. I can explain how this works as we move through our journey.
As with all things, there are many ways to become a golf coach. I chose to do my training through the Golfzon Leadbetter University. David is one of the greatest coaches ever to coach the game and he personally designed the courses.
All Golfzon Leadbetter University Certifications are online learning modules designed to teach industry professionals how to increase player performance through a deep understanding of the various teaching disciplines. I completed the Instructor Certification which is the most holistic and in-depth training programme. The Leadbetter Instructor training programme includes content from the Associate, Technical, Physical, Mental and Leadbetter kids’ certifications along with a number of courses that are exclusive to coaches on this course.
From a personal perspective, I wanted to learn how to become a coach without losing my income, lifestyle and undertake a course that recognises my work experience and skills.
